About Æsir Sync

Æsir Sync lets you sync, back up and restore your Contacts, Calendar, To-do list and Notes. You can enter and edit information.

It lets you sync with your Personal Information Manager clients for Windows (Outlook) or Mac.

The program keeps your information safe if your phone is lost or stolen.

It also updates the phone’s software.

Sync

You can sync your phone with this program and with your PIM (Personal Information Manager) client.

To set your PIM client, go to Tools | Æsir Sync settings. Click the appropriate box.

To sync your phone, click the Sync button on the toolbar, or go to File | Sync.

If there are duplicate entries, a prompt will ask you to select the one you want to save and keep.

A dialogue box indicates when the sync is finished.

Backup

Backup saves your phone’s contents. It creates a date-stamped file in the Æsir Sync backup directory that can be opened and/or restored later.

Click on the Backup button in the toolbar, or go to File | Backup.

Restore

You can restore your phone’s backed-up contents, or transfer information to a new phone.

Click on the Restore button in the toolbar or go to File | Restore. Select the date-stamped file you want to restore.

The program will indicate when the restore is complete.

You can preview and edit a file while you are in the Æsir Sync program. Go to File | Open and select a date-stamped file. Edit your data and click File | Save. Click Restore to transfer the changes to the phone.

Export

You can export information in iCal and vCard formats. Go to File | Export to vCard or File | Export to iCal. The file will be stored in your Æsir Sync data directory.

From iCal or vCard, you can import into unsupported PIM clients such as Thunderbird and Lotus Notes, as well as other phones.

Import

You can import contacts or other information from an unsupported PIM or phone, as long as the information is in iCal or vCard format.

To import, go to File | Import. Select the iCal or vCard file and click Open. To transfer the data to your phone, click on the Sync button.

Contacts

The Contacts window has three panes.

1. The top pane lets you search for and add new contacts.

2. The central display pane shows your contacts or search results.

3. The lower editing pane lets you edit, save or delete a contact.

To add a new contact, click the Add (+) button in the top pane. A window will open. Enter the contact’s name, phone number, email address, company, job title and fax number. Click Save.

To delete a contact, highlight the contact and click Delete. The contact will be deleted from the Sync program, but not from the phone.

Calendar

The Calendar window has three panes.

1. The top pane lets you add a new event.

2. The central display pane shows the Calendar.

3. The lower editing pane lets you edit, save or delete an event in the Calendar.

To add a new event, click on the Add (+) button in the top pane. A window will open. Enter the event’s subject, location, start date and time, end date and time, and set an alarm. Click Save.

To delete an event, highlight it in the Calendar. The event will appear in the lower pane. Click on it, and select Delete. The event will be deleted from the Sync program, but not from the phone.

To-do list

The To-do list window has three panes.

1. The top pane lets you add a new entry.

2. The central display pane shows the list of entries.

3. The lower editing pane lets you edit, save or delete an entry.

To add a new entry to the list, click on the Add (+) button in the top pane. A window will open. Enter the subject and deadline, and give your to-do a low, normal or high status. Click Save.

To delete an entry, highlight it and click Delete in the lower pane. The entry will be deleted from the Sync program, but not from the phone.

Notes

The Notes window has three panes.

1. The top pane lets you add a new note.

2. The central display pane shows the list of notes.

3. The lower editing pane lets you edit, save or delete a note.

To create a new note, click on the Add (+) button in the top pane. A window will open. Key in your text and click Save.

To delete a note, highlight it and click Delete in the lower pane. The note will be deleted from the Sync program, but not from the phone.

Update phone software

To view the phone’s current software version, go to View | Phone software version.

Before you update the software, make sure the phone is connected to your PC or Mac and the battery is fully charged.

Go to Tools | Update phone software.

Click OK to confirm that the phone is charged and its cable is connected.

A dialogue box will prompt you to back up your phone. Click Yes.

When backup is complete, the latest software will download. The phone will reboot.

A dialogue box will ask if you want to restore your backed-up data to the phone. Select Yes.

Reset phone to factory settings

To reset your phone to its factory settings, go to Tools | Reset phone to factory settings.

All data will be deleted if you choose to reset. A dialogue box will ask you to confirm. Click Yes.
