The provided condition being that the screen should have an HDMI port which is pretty much available on all the TV screens nowadays. A simple Chromecast device can entirely change your streaming experience and add a new spark to your old Television set.
How to Use Chromecast without WiFi?
While most of us may not be aware of the lesser-known features of a Chromecast device, being able to use Chromecast without connecting it to WiFi is the most sought query.
There are five ways through which we can use Chromecast without using the WiFi to stream our favorite content. There isn’t one but many options available which will allow you to stream even when WiFi isn’t available.
1. Guest Mode
As the name suggests this feature was originally introduced by Google for the guests so that they could connect their phones and stream the content without necessarily connecting to your home’s WiFi. Using this method is the easiest way to use Chromecast without WiFi. Here are the steps to use the Guest Mode:-
Step 1: To use the Guest mode, the first thing you need to do is switch on the Guest mode on your Chromecast device. Go to the settings of your Chromecast device and scroll down to the Guest mode and switch on the Guest mode.
Step 2: If guest mode settings are already enabled, you will see a PIN underneath the guest mode, but if you don’t see any PIN you will have to generate a pin.
Step 3: Open the app from where you want to stream the content and cast it.
Step 4: You will be required to enter the PIN when you cast the content. Enter the PIN and now you will be able to cast the content from your primary device to the larger screen device.
2. Ethernet Connection
Chromecast doesn’t come with a pre-installed ethernet jack but Google has certain ethernet power adapters which can be used alongside the device. Through an Ethernet connection, you will be able to use Chromecast without WiFi by streaming the content onto your larger screen without having to connect with WiFi.
You have to connect the USB cable from the Ethernet adapter to the Chromecast and once that is connected, connect the other end of the Ethernet cable from the Ethernet adapter to the router. But make sure, the adapter is also connected to a plug point. Once all the conditions are fulfilled, the Chromecast device will work using the Ethernet cable and not through the WiFi.
This wired connection through the Ethernet cable is more fast and reliable as compared to WiFi.
3. Using a Travel Router
If you are unable to connect using the WiFi because of whatsoever reasons, worry no more. Just grab your hands on a 3G or 4G or 5G portable router and you can always use it as your hotspot. You will have a hassle-free connection without going through the tedious Public WiFi agreements and in that way you can be sure that your connection is secure and reliable.
But you need to pay for this service. It can be used anywhere and you don’t have to worry whether or not the place has WiFi. What travel routers do is create a Local WiFi Network, your own personal network. And this network will be your medium to connect the Chromecast device with the casting device.
Step 1: The first thing that you need to do is assign a network name and password to your travel router.
Step 2: Then, open the google chrome app on the casting device and connect the travel router with the Chromecast.
Step 3: The network name should appear automatically, then enter the password and now you will be able to stream all your contents from your casting device without an internet connection.
This type of connection gives you more privacy and control over your network. No one can connect directly without entering the password.
4. Screen Mirroring
You can mirror the display of any Android device directly to a Chromecast streaming stick without using the WiFi. You don’t even need an Internet connection for mirroring the screen of your android device. This feature is available only on Android devices.
To mirror the display open the Chromecast app which is known as Google Home from your android device. Click on the burger menu and tap on Cast Screen/Audio. Now, you just have to select the Chromecast device in the cast option.
Note: Screen Mirroring feature is available only on Android version 4.4.2 and above.
5. Using the Hotspot
The most simple way to Chromecast and stream your content directly onto the streaming device is by using your smartphone’s hotspot. But you should keep in mind that you still require a working Internet connection for this type of streaming. Your smartphone in this case works as a router.
Step 1: Scroll down the Settings menu of your phone or go to the Settings option.
Step 2: If you’re using the Scroll down Settings menu, simply tap on the option which says “Mobile Hotspot.” If you are going in by the traditional method, click on the option “Connections”.
Step 3: Click on “Mobile Hotspot and Tethering” and switch on your Mobile Hotspot.
Step 4: Note down the password, you will have to enter this password when you will connect the Streaming device with your mobile’s hotspot.
